Available for new engagements

Oktay

Oceangoing maritime officer and automation engineer. Ten years of watchkeeping at sea, through to chief mate — now building GenAI document processing, data pipelines and autonomous agent systems under the Z-Deck studio.

Experience

Two careers, one throughline.

Both halves are about the same thing: making sure the right information reaches the right decision at the right time.

  • Ten years

Oceangoing maritime officer → chief mate

Watchkeeping, cargo operations and stability, passage planning, port state control and ISM audit preparation. Daily operational reporting — noon reports, bunker and performance figures, port call documentation — under real time pressure, where an error in a number has consequences.

  • Concurrent, then full-time

    Automation and data engineering

Began by automating my own reporting workload, then moved properly into Python, data engineering and machine learning. Now designing and shipping intelligent document processing, warehousing and test automation systems end to end.

  • Current

    Founder — Z-Deck

A founder-led studio for GenAI process automation, with maritime operations as the vertical I know from the inside. Everything is typed, tested and containerised, and shipped through CI.
